recently did a meme of one of her character's art progression...and I thought it would be really cool to do one for Tigershark... Even when I knew it would be VERY involved! I've had Tiger in my stable of characters since I was in Japan, shortly after my daughter joined our family.
With her encouragement, I broke out my many many art books and tracked down the original art and any other picture in between I could find of my favorite mutant.
I included a lot of pictures here...sorry about that I had a hard time killing my babies as it were and only show a few representative pieces for each period of progression. I could have added so much more...LOL!
1995 - Tiger is "born" from a very odd dream...I drew this that day or perhaps a few days later....as you can see by following the meme, his features went from almost human to more shark-like very quickly. (Same thing happened in my dream honestly HEH only in reverse.)
1996-98 - Still exploring the style of Tiger's face/body/hair etc.
Between 1998 and 2005...things get a bit fuzzy, lots of work in there but not all of it included the date when I scanned it and I can't at the moment track down the original pieces of art...which is why it's under the ?? section.
The 2000's - I started getting into digital about this point using Photoshop at first with a mouse and later with the UC Logic that was my first tablet. Of course I've graduated to PS CS4 and a Wacom (Bamboo and then Intuous 4). As you can see from the early works with Plague I had a steep learning curve with the program and with how to effectively use the tablet.
between 2005-2009 you can see a major jump in art style...
And wala! 2011 -
The first in the 2011 category is a redo of "Curiosity killed the Cat" which is a scene from the book Mercenaries and Angels, the book I published in 2005...I was never happy with how they colored the cover, even when the background art was awesome (Better than I could have done).
The second entry for 2011 is a page about a month old...
Well lets see, I was 26 when the idea for Tiger came to me...I'd been drawing since I was four...yeah...I was pretty well established...HEE!
Now I had a really good laugh finding the original pictures...I came across a D&D folder from Jr, High (That would have been around '82-'84)...I can see where my daughter's drawing skill is at now just comparing it to that! (Which was AWFUL btw)
I keep forgetting that for a long time I didn't do well with the human body!
mannnn i wasnt even around in 82-84 xD i wish i started drawing earlier so my talent could be better then it is now... but oh well. gotta start somehwere xD
As for the cover to your book. I show that to people and they just loved it.
you can tell you've mastered the digital painting and colouring now. mind you your earlier attempts are a helluva lot better then mine O.o *jelly*
this was really great to see, thank for sharing
